Area of Expertise
I started studying art in high school in 1975-77. When I went to undergraduate school I began to work primarily in the field of Ceramics, using porcelain clays. Over the years I have developed over twenty different glazes (colors) that I can use in different combination on my work. All my clays and glazes and made from scratch using formulas I have developed . The artwork is fired several times, with layers of glazes being applied, to a final temperature of 2400 degrees F. I can make some wall mural units using a commercial tile and then apply my personal glazes on the tiles which is less expensive and saves some time. Most of the work is fired in a gas kiln using a reduction atmosphere which can give various results to the glazes I use. Every time I open the kiln too see the finished work I can expect the unexpected, like unwrapping a room full of presents.
I hope you enjoy viewing the work as much as I enjoy making it!
